Why paint looks dull

Automatic car washes, dry towels and dirty wash mitts leave thousands of fine scratches in your clear coat. In direct sun those scratches show up as spider-web swirls that scatter light and hide the true color of the paint.

Paint correction carefully levels the clear coat with professional polishers, pads and compounds. The result is a smooth surface that reflects light cleanly, so the color looks richer and the reflections look sharp.

Paint correction questions

What is the difference between the three levels?

Single-stage is one polishing step that removes light haze, boosts gloss and leaves a layer of protection. Minor correction targets light swirl marks. Total correction uses multiple compounding and polishing steps to remove swirls and light scratches for the deepest, clearest finish.

Can paint correction remove every scratch?

Correction removes defects that sit within the clear coat. Scratches that catch a fingernail usually go deeper and may need touch-up or body work. We assess every vehicle first, and our scratch removal add-on runs $50 to $300 depending on the damage.

Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?

Yes. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, swirls included, so paint correction is required before every ceramic coating we apply.

How long does paint correction last?

The correction itself is permanent, because the defects are polished away. New swirls come from improper washing, so we recommend protecting the finish with a sealant or ceramic coating and using a gentle hand wash.
